TESDA Launch Free NC II Skills Training with Daily Allowance


Residents of the First District of Zamboanga City looking to gain trade skills and official certification can now apply for free skills training under a new joint initiative by Assistant Majority Leader Congresswoman Kat Chua and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA).


The special scholarship program provides free TESDA National Certificate II (NC II) courses designed to improve local employability and support livelihood development across the district.



Scholar Benefits and Program Coverage

In addition to fully covered tuition fees, accepted applicants will receive free starter kits to support their practical instruction and a ₱160 daily allowance for the duration of their training. Programs are structured for fast-track learning, running between 15 to 25 days depending on the chosen discipline.


A total of 421 scholarship slots are available across four key trade areas:




Application Period and Requirements

The application window opens on July 27, 2026, and runs through August 5, 2026.

To qualify, applicants must meet the following criteria and submit the required documents:

  • Must be a verified resident of the First District of Zamboanga City

  • One (1) photocopy of any valid government-issued ID

  • Written contact information (active mobile number and address)

  • Preferred TESDA course selection




Interested residents must submit their physical requirement envelopes directly to the Office of Cong. Kat Chua SiKAT Servicio Center, located in Baliwasan, Zamboanga City.

Due to the limited number of slots per course—particularly for technical trades like Electrical Installation and Tile Setting—applicants are advised to submit their applications early within the designated window.
