Senator Raffy Tulfo has offered a P500,000 cash reward for any information leading to the identification and apprehension of the person responsible for the death of an Angkas rider, who was found bloodied in a hammock in Barangay Western Bicutan, Taguig City, last June 6, 2025.
The call for justice came to light yesterday, July 10, 2025, when Joan May Abunales, wife of the deceased Joefer Abunales, reached out to Senator Tulfo's public service program, "Raffy Tulfo in Action." Mrs. Abunales shared that while they hail from Pangasinan, her husband had been working in Metro Manila as an Angkas rider.

Joefer was discovered by a street sweeper, gravely injured and bleeding in a hammock where he had been resting in Barangay Western Bicutan. He was immediately rushed to the hospital but tragically succumbed to his injuries the following day.
Upon contacting Police Captain Jowel Golimlim, chief of Taguig City Police Station Substation 2, Senator Tulfo learned that the investigation faced a significant hurdle: the absence of recorded CCTV footage in the immediate vicinity, making it difficult to identify the perpetrator. Police noted that the victim sustained a severe head wound, suggesting he had been bludgeoned. Additionally, his motorcycle keys and cellphone were reported missing.
In response, Senator Tulfo has directed the Taguig City Police to conduct a thorough autopsy on Joefer's body to ascertain the exact cause of death and to perform fingerprint tests on his motorcycle for potential clues.
Furthermore, Senator Tulfo has coordinated with Angkas CEO, George Royeca, to trace Joefer's last bookings, hoping to establish his last known whereabouts and contacts before the tragic incident. The reward aims to encourage anyone with vital information to come forward and assist authorities in solving the case and bringing justice to Joefer Abunales and his grieving family.
