After a month-long suspension for vital repairs and preparations, the Philippine National Railways (PNR) resumes its train operations between the provinces of Laguna and Quezon.
The Calamba-Lucena-Calamba route, a crucial link for commuters in the Southern Tagalog region, is now ready to welcome passengers once again.

The service's re-opening follows a temporary halt that began on June 17, implemented to facilitate comprehensive repairs on rails, embankments, and bridges. This necessary maintenance was also a preparatory step for the transfer and operation of train sets previously utilized for the PNR's Metro Manila line, which ceased operations in March 2024 to give way for the North-South Commuter Railway (NSCR) project.
The revamped Calamba-Lucena-Calamba route will include stops at key points in both provinces:
- Laguna: Calamba, Pansol, Masili, Los Baños, College, IRRI, and San Pablo.
- Quezon: Tiaong (Lalig), Candelaria, Lutucan, Sariaya, and Lucena.
Commuters can expect a travel time of approximately two hours and 30 minutes for the full journey. The train will depart Lucena at 5:00 a.m., arriving in Calamba shortly after 7:30 a.m. The return trip will leave Calamba at 5:45 p.m., with an estimated arrival in Lucena at 8:18 p.m.
Fares for regular passengers will be affordable, ranging from P15 to P105 depending on the distance traveled. Students, senior citizens, and persons with disability (PWDs) will continue to receive statutory discounts, with their fares ranging from P12 to P84.
The PNR management affirmed its commitment to providing a more reliable and efficient transport option for Southern Tagalog commuters. Beyond this route, PNR also maintains active train services in the Bicol region, with three daily trips from Sipocot to Naga in Camarines Sur and back, and two daily trips from Naga to Legazpi in Albay.
