NCR Wage Board Approves P50 Minimum Wage Hike

Workers in the National Capital Region (NCR) are set to receive a P50 increase in their daily minimum wage, bringing a welcome boost to their take-home pay.

The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) confirmed that the NCR Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB) approved this adjustment through Wage Order 26.

The new wage hike will raise the minimum daily pay for employees in the non-agriculture sector to P695, up from the current P645. For those in the agriculture sector, service and retail establishments with 15 or fewer workers, and manufacturing establishments with less than 10 workers, the daily minimum pay will increase to P658 from P608.

This significant increase will take effect on July 18, 2025, immediately following the anniversary date of the last minimum pay adjustment in NCR, which was implemented on July 17, 2024. Last year, the same wage board approved a P35 minimum wage hike.

DOLE highlights this P50 increase as the highest wage hike ever granted by the NCR regional wage board. It is expected to directly benefit approximately 1.2 million minimum wage workers across Metro Manila.

Furthermore, the National Wages and Productivity Commission (NWPC) anticipates that around 1.7 million full-time wage and salary workers earning above the minimum wage could indirectly benefit. This is expected to occur through "wage adjustments at the enterprise level arising from the correction of wage distortions." A wage distortion happens when the new minimum wage overlaps with or significantly reduces the existing pay differences within a company's wage structure.

This latest wage order underscores the government's ongoing efforts to ensure fair compensation and improve the economic well-being of workers in the country's capital.
