Taguig Police Chief Faces Probe Over Warrantless Search Incident

The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) chief, Brig. Gen. Anthony Aberin, has ordered an investigation into Taguig City police chief, Col. Joey Goforth, following reports of his officers allegedly entering a home without a search warrant on February 5.

Aberin confirmed that Goforth's potential liability and possible negligence in his duties would be part of the ongoing probe. "Pati si COP pina-iimbestigahan ko if liable siya, kung negligent siya sa duties," he told the Philippine News Agency, emphasizing the importance of accountability within the police ranks.

The investigation stems from a viral video claiming that police officers regularly conduct unwarranted raids in "Block 5" almost every weekend. In response, Aberin announced the immediate relief of 10 police officers involved in the incident to ensure a fair and impartial inquiry.

"I will make sure they will be dismissed from the police service. People like them have no place in the PNP," Aberin stated, highlighting the NCRPO's firm commitment to upholding the rule of law, transparency, and professionalism.

Those found guilty may face various sanctions, including suspension, demotion, dismissal, or potential criminal charges.
