LRT-1 Cavite Extension Phase 1 Opens to Commuters on November 16

After years of anticipation, the LRT-1 Cavite Extension Project Phase 1 is set to open its train doors to commuters starting Saturday, November 16. This milestone marks a significant step forward in enhancing connectivity and easing transportation in Metro Manila and nearby areas.

Five New Stations to Serve Pasay and Parañaque

The first phase of the extension connects Baclaran Station in Pasay City to Dr. Santos Station in Parañaque City, adding five new stations to the LRT-1 line:

  1. Redemptorist-ASEANA Station
  2. MIA Road Station
  3. Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX) Station
  4. Ninoy Aquino Avenue Station
  5. Dr. Santos Station

This development extends the total alignment of LRT-1 from 20 kilometers to 26 kilometers, further solidifying its role as a key transit system in the metro.

Faster Travel, Greater Accessibility

According to the Department of Transportation (DOTr), the extension is expected to reduce travel time from Parañaque City to Quezon City by nearly an hour. It also aims to increase the LRT-1’s daily ridership capacity by 80,000 passengers, adding to its current average of 323,000 daily riders.

Boosting Local Economy and Connectivity

The project is expected to bring economic benefits to Pasay and Parañaque, especially for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), by improving accessibility and business opportunities in the area.

Future Expansion to Cavite

When the entire LRT-1 Cavite Extension Project becomes fully operational, featuring a total of eight stations, travel time from Baclaran to Bacoor, Cavite, will be slashed to just 25 minutes.

This game-changing project is set to transform daily commutes for thousands of residents and commuters, offering faster, more efficient, and more sustainable travel options.

For more updates on schedules and fare rates, passengers are encouraged to monitor official announcements from the DOTr and the Light Rail Manila Corporation (LRMC).
