Tropical Storm Kristine (international name: Trami) continues to strengthen as it moves west-northwestward over the Philippine Sea, posing a significant threat to the Bicol Region and other parts of Luzon.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has issued Tropical Cyclone Bulletin No. 6, warning residents of Catanduanes and other areas to prepare for strong winds and heavy rainfall.

As of 10:00 AM, the center of Tropical Storm Kristine was located 335 km east of Virac, Catanduanes, packing maximum sustained winds of 65 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 80 km/h. The storm is moving west-northwestward at 10 km/h.

PAGASA has raised Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 2 over Catanduanes, indicating strong winds ranging from 62 to 88 km/h that may pose a moderate threat to life and property within 24 hours. Several areas in Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao have also been placed under TCWS No. 1, with winds of 39 to 61 km/h expected within 36 hours.

Heavy Rainfall and Coastal Risks
PAGASA has issued a heavy rainfall outlook for affected areas, with potential flooding and landslides in susceptible regions, particularly in the Bicol Region, Northern Luzon, and coastal areas. A storm surge warning is also in effect, with a moderate to high risk of life-threatening storm surges over low-lying areas in Catanduanes, Camarines Sur, Albay, Aurora, Isabela, and Cagayan.
Coastal waters are expected to experience dangerous sea conditions, with waves reaching up to 7 meters in some areas. Small vessels are advised to avoid sea travel, while mariners of larger vessels should seek shelter.
Track and Forecast
Kristine is expected to intensify into a severe tropical storm before making landfall in Isabela or northern Aurora on October 23 or early October 24. After crossing Northern Luzon’s mountainous terrain, the storm may weaken slightly but is forecast to regain strength over the West Philippine Sea, potentially reaching typhoon category before exiting the Philippine Area of Responsibility by October 25.
