Isko reminds public: We're still under 'quarantine'

Manila City Mayor Francisco "Isko Moreno" Domagoso urged the public to remain vigilant as the nation's capital is still under quarantine, particularly a "general community quarantine" or GCQ.

Domagoso on Thursday, June 4, said that the public should not take lightly the implementation of GCQ in Manila as the city is still fighting the COVID-19 pandemic.

"Huwag ho kayong masyadong maexcite sa GCQ, kasi mas excited si COVID19. Always bear in mind that there is still a deadly virus around us kaya po sana wag kayong magrerelax mga kababayan," Domagoso said.

"Ayokong ilagay sa alanganin ang mga batang Maynila. Bawat buhay ay mahalaga, we value ang bawat buhay. Walang mayaman, walang mahirap, walang middle class. Sa Maynila, lahat pantay pantay ang halaga ng buhay," he added.

The Mayor also stressed that until a vaccine is discovered to crush the deadly disease, positive cases will continue to rise.

Domagoso also reminded the public to practice the mandated health protocols, which includes wearing of face masks at all times.

He also assured the public that his fellow city officials are doing their best in order win the battle against the pandemic.

"We will not allow ourselves to be defeated by COVID-19," Domagoso said.

"There are some preparations, more actions, programs, policies, and plans that your city government will do, will continue to do to protect the interest of every Manilenos," he added.

Among the projects of the city government of Manila in line with COVID19 is the construction of 12 quarantine facilities.

It also conducts thousands of rapid testing to detect suspected COVID19 positive cases in their barangays.
