Kagay-anons seeking to enhance their vocational expertise, acquire internationally recognized credentials, or pivot into new career paths can now apply for the latest batch of technical-vocational scholarships.
The initiative is made possible through the ongoing partnership between Cagayan de Oro City 2nd District Representative Rufus Rodriguez and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority Region X (TESDA-10). Applications are open to all eligible residents of Cagayan de Oro for both the Training for Work Scholarship Program (TWSP) and the Special Training for Employment Program (STEP).
Available Courses
Applicants can choose from a wide variety of National Certificate (NC) technical courses offered under the two distinct scholarship tracks:
1. Training for Work Scholarship Program (TWSP)
Designed to address immediate skill shortages in key growth industries, TWSP offers the following NC II courses:
- Barista NC II
- Caregiving NC II
- Computer Systems Servicing NC II
- Food and Beverage Services NC II
- Heavy Equipment Operation (Forklift) NC II
- Housekeeping NC II
2. Special Training for Employment Program (STEP)
Focused on community-based specialty training and self-employment initiatives, STEP covers:
- Automotive Servicing NC I
- Bread and Pastry Production NC II
- Cookery NC II
- Driving NC II
- Electrical Installation and Maintenance NC II
- Masonry NC II
- Shielded Metal Arc Welding NC II
Scholar Benefits and Support
To ensure that financial barriers do not prevent students from completing their credentials, selected Cong. Rufus-TESDA scholars will receive comprehensive institutional support:
- 100% Free Training and Assessment Fees
- Daily Training Support Fund: ₱160 per training day
- Internationally Recognized Certification: Awarded upon successfully passing the assessment
- Starter Toolkits: Provided exclusively to enrolled scholars under the STEP track to help launch home-based businesses or freelance setups
