MANILA, Philippines – Here is a list of areas where classes have been suspended for Thursday, August 8, due to rain from the southwest monsoon or hanging habagat, which is being enhanced by Typhoon Hanna (Lekima).

Metro Manila

• City of Manila - starting afternoon in all levels (public and private)
• Quezon City - all levels (public and private)
• Taguig City - starting afternoon in all levels (public and private)

Calabarzon

• Batangas
• Lemery - all levels (public and private)
• Tanauan City - all levels (public and private)

Central Luzon

• Bataan - all levels (public and private)
• Bulacan
• Bustos - all levels (public and private)
• Calumpit - all levels (public and private)
• Pandi - all levels (public and private)
• Paombong - all levels (public and private)
• San Miguel - preschool to elementary (public and private)
• Pampanga
• Apalit - Cansinala, Paligui, and Tabuyuc (preschool to senior high school) and Capalangan (preschool to elementary)
• Candaba - preschool to elementary (public and private)
• Floridablanca - all levels (public and private)
• Macabebe - all levels (public and private)
• Masantol - all levels (public and private)

Department of Education (DepEd) Class Suspension Guideline:

• DepEd Calls on parents to determine whether their children should go to school during typhoons, floods and other calamities in the absence of official announcements from DepEd.
• In the absence of storm signal warnings, LGU are expected to announce whole day class cancellations not later than 4:30AM or half day class suspensions not later than 11:00AM.
• Storm signal warning declared by PAGASA between 10:00pm and 4:30AM reflect the whole day cancellation of classes in appropriate levels in the affected areas.
• Storm signal warnings declared by PAGASA by 11:00AM automatically suspend the same day’s afternoon classes in appropriate levels in the affected areas.

*Suspension of classes for the tertiary level (colleges and universities) will be at the discretion of school management.
