Mayor Abby Binay on July 29 led the distribution of raincoats and boots to kindergarten students of Pembo Elementary School.
The students were among the 6,745 students from 25 public schools which will benefit from the free rain gear given by the city government as part of Project FREE (Free Relevant Excellent Education).
Launched in 1995 under Binay’s father, former Vice President Jejomar Binay, Project FREE aims to ensure students are given free uniforms and school supplies.
Binay has since expanded the project to include rain gear, socks, anti-dengue kits, hygiene kits and sneakers.
The mayor was joined in the distribution of rain gear by her husband, Rep. Luis Campos, and Vice Mayor Monique Lagdameo.
