Dengue cases double in Taguig according to DOH


The number of dengue cases doubled in Taguig in the first 8 months of this year, compared to same period in 2018, the Department of Health (DOH said Sunday, adding that the mosquito-borne disease also saw a spike in 9 other cities in Metro Manila.

From January 1 to August 3, Taguig tallied 490 dengue cases, up 102 percent from 243 cases last year, according to DOH records.
Malabon City came in second with 513 cases this year from 282 in 2018, said the health department.
Parañaque, Pasay, Mandaluyong, Las Piñas, Muntinlupa, Navotas, Makati and San Juan also saw higher incidence of dengue this year, the DOH said.
Across Metro Manila, the total number of dengue cases has reached 10,349 with 45 deaths.
Quezon City recorded the most number of deaths with 24, followed by Manila with 5 and Caloocan City with 4.
Taguig, Valenzuela, Marikina and Pasig recorded 2 deaths each, while Malabon, Navotas, Parañaque and Pasay recorded one death each.
