Scorching action in PSL Challenge Cup

Action in the Philippine Superliga (PSL) Beach Volleyball Challenge Cup heats up even more today at the Sands By the Bay at Mall of Asia as eight teams boost their title bids in the women’s division and four other squads take center stage in men’s play.
All eyes, however, will be on the fancied Petron XCS pair of Sisi Rondina and Bernadeth Pons, who are eager to pick up from where they left off as they take on Sta. Lucia-B counterparts Jonah Sabete and Bianca Lizares in the quarterfinals set at 3 p.m.
The winner will advance to the Final Four round where it will take on either the Generika Ayala-A tandem of Patty Orendain and Fiola Ceballos or Foton duo of Nieza and Jeziela Viray twins, who will square off at 4 p.m.
Sta. Lucia-A’s Jackielyn Estoquia and Dhannylaine Demontano tangles with Cignal-B’s Cherry Vivas and Jannine Navarro at 10 a.m. while F2 Logistics’ Mich Morente and Joy Gallenero battles Cignal-A’s Mylene Paat and Rapril Aguilar at 11 a.m., with the winners advancing to the other half of the semifinal round.
Raising the curtains at 8 a.m. in the men’s division pits the Sands by the Bay’s pair of Bryan Bagunas and James Natividad against Smart counterparts Philip Bagalay and Gregory Utupo. Squaring off in the other Final Four pairing set at 9 a.m. are Cignal’s Mika Abria and Jesie Lopez against Foton Kris Roy Guzman and Lemuel Arbasto.
