‘Attraction iyon’: Governor OK with nudist camp opening in Palawan

Palawan Governor Jose Chaves Alvarez on Friday said he is open to having a tourist spot for nudists in the province.

This, despite a proposed ordinance that prohibits tourists from wearing skimpy swimwear in public areas in Palawan.

"Let’s be practical. Kung ako tanungin mo, may isla tayo na puwede kayo mag nudist camp. Attraction 'yun eh," he told ABS-CBN News.

Alvarez, however, clarified that he supports the measure filed by board member Cherry Pie Acosta, who seeks to protect children and residents who deem scant swimwear inappropriate.

"Pero (kapag naka t-back) huwag kang lalapit sa school, huwag kang lumapit sa mga simbahan, 'di ba? Masama 'yun," he said.

If Acosta's proposal is approved by council, the governor said tourists, both local and foreign alike, must be informed beforehand.

"Ipaalam lang natin pagdating ng turista. Ilagay natin sa passport niya," he said.
