TESDA Skills Passport App: Modernizing Tech-Voc for Every Filipino

For decades, navigating the technical-vocational (tech-voc) landscape in the Philippines involved a familiar routine: waiting in long lines at regional offices, bringing physical folders filled with printed National Certificates (NCs), and scouring bulletin boards or disconnected job sites for open slots.

The launch of the TESDA Skills Passport app fundamentally changes that experience. Spearheaded by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) under Director General Kiko Benitez, this mobile "super-app" serves as an all-in-one platform connecting training, certification, scholarships, and employment directly to a user's smartphone.

What Is the TESDA Skills Passport?

The TESDA Skills Passport acts as a secure digital portfolio and identity for Filipino learners, workers, and Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs). Instead of carrying physical paper certificates that can be misplaced or damaged, users can now store, manage, and present their verified credentials digitally.

At its core, the app addresses the longstanding job-skills mismatch by creating a direct pipeline from Training to Trabaho (Training to Employment).

Key Features Built into the Super-App

1. Verified Digital Credentials & QR-Enabled Resume

The app centralizes all completed TESDA training programs and National Certificates (NC I, NC II, NC III, etc.) in a tamper-proof digital format. Users can generate a QR-code-enabled digital resume that prospective employers can scan to instantly verify the authenticity of their qualifications.

2. PhilSys Identity Integration (eKYC)

Security and verification are backed by electronic Know-Your-Customer (eKYC) protocols. The app integrates with the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys), validating user identities via National ID numbers, QR scans, or liveness checks. It also accepts alternative government IDs (such as Passport, Driver's License, SSS, or UMID) to make enrollment accessible to everyone.

3. Integrated Job Hub & "Find a TESDAn"

Finding employment after finishing a course is significantly streamlined. The built-in job portal consolidates listings from partner platforms, filterable by location, required skills, and expected salary.

For Freelancers: The "Find a TESDAn" feature allows skilled graduates (e.g., electricians, aircon technicians, carpenters, bookkeepers) to set up worker profiles where local clients can hire them directly for service projects.

4. Direct Learning Paths (TESDA Online Program)

Users can stream or download free self-paced courses straight from the TESDA Online Program (TOP). The app offers tailored recommendations based on a user's career goals and existing certifications, covering traditional trades as well as emerging digital skills like Data Analytics, AI Prompting, and Micro-credentials.

5. Real-Time Scholarship Tracker

Synchronized with the Biometric-enabled Scholarship Registration System (BSRS), the app allows users to view available training grants in real time, apply digitally, and track their application status without needing to visit an office.

6. Interactive Maps & AI Guidance

Centers Near Me: Uses device GPS to map nearby TESDA Technology Institutions (TTIs), private tech-voc centers, and accredited assessment venues.

Professor K: A built-in AI chatbot designed to answer user inquiries regarding course requirements, scholarship availability, and technical support 24/7.
