The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has officially launched its online driver’s license renewal system (ODLRS) via the eGovPH mobile app, marking a significant step towards modernizing government services and enhancing public convenience.
The new digital platform, rolled out on Thursday, allows motorists to renew their driver’s licenses from the comfort of their homes or offices, eliminating the need for physical visits to LTO branches.
LTO Chief, Assistant Secretary Atty. Vigor D. Mendoza II, emphasized the convenience and efficiency of the new system. “This is a better alternative for going to LTO offices since you don’t need to shell out money for transportation to our offices and don’t even need to queue in any license renewal offices,” Mendoza stated.

The initiative aligns with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.'s directive, channeled through Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon, to digitalize government transactions and improve accessibility for all Filipinos, including those abroad. “All of these digitalization efforts are intended to make all transactions in the LTO fast and comfortable to all our clients,” Mendoza added.
How to Renew Your Driver's License Online
Motorists can access this new digital service by downloading and installing the eGovPH app, available on both the Apple App Store and Google Play. Once the app is installed and security verification is completed, users can follow these steps:
- Through the eGovPH app, find and click the ‘NGA’ icon, then locate and select ‘LTO.’
- Choose ‘Online Driver’s Application.’
- Click ‘Renew Your Driver’s License.’
- Upload or capture photos of both the front and back of your physical driver’s license.
- Wait for the system to analyze and validate the uploaded card (this typically takes one to three minutes).
- Once validation is complete, review and verify all displayed details before clicking submit.
- Take a new photo, ensuring it adheres to the required standard format, which will be provided in the on-screen instructions.
Prerequisites for a Smooth Online Renewal
To ensure a fast and hassle-free online application, Mendoza advises motorists to secure the following requirements beforehand, as they will need to be completed and potentially uploaded during the transaction:
- Telemedicine Medical Examination: Applicants must book and complete an online medical examination through the LTO ODLRS Portal’s "Telemedicine" section.
- Online Driver’s Enhancement Program (ODEP): Motorists are required to finish this five-hour education program, accessible within the LTO ODLRS Portal’s "ODEP" section.
After fulfilling these prerequisites, motorists can proceed with online payment for their corresponding renewal fee by selecting a preferred payment gateway within the app.
A successful transaction confirms the renewal of the driver’s license. The electronic version of the renewed driver’s license is then automatically generated and immediately viewable within the eGovPH app. LTO Chief Mendoza affirmed that this e-license is as valid and recognized as the physical card.
Motorists will also have the option to avail of courier delivery for their physical card or pick it up at a chosen LTO district office, providing further flexibility. The LTO's latest digital leap aims to significantly improve the user experience, moving towards a more convenient and efficient public service landscape.
