Isko Moreno Raises Eyebrows Over Discovery of Two Cash Vaults Inside Mayor’s Office

Former Manila Mayor Isko Moreno made a startling revelation upon his return to Manila City Hall: not one, but two large cash vaults were found inside the Office of the Mayor — a discovery he described as highly unusual and alarming.

In a social media post that quickly went viral, Moreno shared that on his first day back at city hall, the mayor's office was completely stripped of its furnishings.

“Everything was gone! Nothing left — and there were even two huge cash vaults inside the Office of the Mayor!” he said, adding with concern, “This is a small problem compared to the real crises facing the City of Manila.”

The presence of the vaults raised serious questions for Moreno. “Not one, but two vaults! What are these doing here? Since when did a mayor’s office become a bank or the City Treasurer’s Office?” he asked pointedly.

His post sparked public interest and speculation, with many questioning the purpose of such vaults in a local government office.

It remains unclear what the vaults contained or why they were installed in the mayor’s office. However, Moreno hinted at possible irregularities and called for greater transparency and accountability from the city’s current leadership. As of now, the Manila City government has yet to issue an official statement regarding the issue.

This development comes as Mayor Isko Moreno returns to Manila’s top post following the three-year term of his successor, Mayor Dra. Honey Lacuna, who served from 2022 to 2025. His comeback marks a new chapter in the city’s political landscape, with many watching closely how his second term will unfold.
