DepEd Advisory: No Face-to-face Classes on April 15, 16

On Thursday, the Department of Education (DepEd) issued a directive mandating all public schools nationwide to adopt asynchronous classes on April 15-16, 2024. This move aims to facilitate the completion of pending assignments, projects, and other academic requirements as the end of the school year draws near.

As the end of the school year rapidly approaches, public schools across the nation are gearing up to facilitate an opportunity for learners to catch up on pending assignments, projects, and other academic requirements. In a recent memorandum issued to regional and schools division offices, it has been mandated that all public schools shall implement asynchronous classes/distance learning on April 15-16, 2024.

This directive aims to provide students with the flexibility needed to address any outstanding academic obligations amidst the fast-approaching end of the academic term. By adopting asynchronous classes, learners will have the autonomy to manage their time effectively and focus on completing their pending work.

Furthermore, the memorandum stipulates that teaching and non-teaching personnel in public schools will not be required to report to their respective stations during the designated asynchronous learning days. This move ensures the safety and well-being of school staff while still allowing for the continuity of educational activities.

However, it's worth noting that activities organized by Regional and Schools Division Offices, such as Regional Athletic Association Meets and other division or school-level programs, may proceed as scheduled on April 15-16, 2024.

While the directive specifically applies to public schools, private schools are not covered by this advisory. Nonetheless, they have the option to implement similar measures to facilitate student engagement and academic progress during the specified dates.

The official memorandum has been disseminated to regional and schools division offices to ensure compliance and coordination across educational institutions nationwide. With this proactive approach, educators and students alike are provided with the necessary support to successfully navigate the remaining weeks of the academic year.
