In the ongoing efforts to prioritize the welfare of senior citizens, the city of Taguig, through its local government unit (LGU), presented a heartfelt gesture to one of its centenarians. Mayor Lani Cayetano and Councilor Raul Aquino personally handed over a cash gift amounting to ₱100,000 to Porfirio Laguitan, a 100-year-old resident hailing from Brgy. Lower Bicutan.
Facilitated by the Office of Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA Taguig), centenarians like Lolo Porfirio will continue to receive the ₱100,000 cash gift in the coming years as long as they are alive. Additionally, seniors in Taguig are entitled to receive birthday cash gifts ranging from ₱3,000 to ₱10,000, depending on their age bracket, as mandated by City Ordinance No. 25 series of 2017.

These services include the provision of free medicines for illnesses such as diabetes, hypertension, and asthma; free nursing services within the comfort of their homes; as well as free distribution of wheelchairs, canes, and hearing aids.
The recognition and support provided to Lolo Porfirio and other senior citizens in Taguig underscore the city's commitment to honoring and caring for its elderly population. This initiative not only acknowledges their contributions to society but also ensures that they live with dignity and comfort during their golden years.
