MPTC holds the concession for various critical expressways, including the North Luzon Expressway, Subic-Clark Tarlac Expressway, NLEX Connector Road, Manila-Cavite Expressway, Cavite-Laguna Expressway, and Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway in Cebu.
Singson further revealed that MPTC aims to fully implement the cashless system across all toll roads by the end of 2024. Currently, approximately 75 percent of motorists have already adopted the RFID system for toll payments, with RFID stickers available free of charge. For those with insufficient RFID account balances, monitoring will be done through license plates, and charges will be incurred when they register their vehicles.
San Miguel Corp. President Ramon Ang also announced plans to eliminate cash lanes upon regulatory approval. SMC is responsible for several expressways, including the South Luzon Expressway, Skyway, NAIA Expressway, Star Tollway, Tarlac-Pangasinan-La Union Expressway, and Muntinlupa-Cavite Expressway.
In 2020, the Department of Transportation issued Department Order No. 2020-012 mandating the implementation of cashless payment systems on expressways, although motorists requested additional time for compliance.
Singson noted that the NLEX Connector Road, inaugurated on March 27, is already operating as a cashless and barrier-free expressway, showcasing the ongoing modernization efforts in the toll payment system.
