Taguig flattens COVID-19 curve, Cayetano says

In his weekly briefing, Cayetano presented a graph which showed that the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases per week in Taguig City has decreased. 

“The last few weeks nag-flatten na ho tayo pababa ngunit mataas pa rin ang numero (In the last few weeks, we have flattened downward but the numbers are still high),” he said.

Based on the graph, Taguig had the highest COVID-19 total of 1,044 cases for the week of Aug. 12 to 18. From there, it went down to 562 confirmed cases from Aug. 19 to 25; 680 from Aug. 26 to Sept. 1; 669 from Sept. 2 to 8; 643 from Sept. 9 to 15; and 584 from Sept. 16 to 22. 

“Kung mapapansin ho natin, medyo nag-flat na ho, medyo stable na ho. Ibig hong sabihin non, hindi ho dumodoble, trumiple yung kaso ng bawat isang positibo na nahahanap natin (If you will notice, it has somewhat flattened, it is quite stable. This means that a positive case that we find is not doubling or tripling),” he said.

Taguig has 39 active cases per 100,000 people as of Sept. 22, the lowest in the National Capital Region (NCR), the mayor said. 

“Importante ho yan dahil ibig sabihin nyan, may ginagawa ho tayong tama. Sana ma-encourage ang ating mga kababayan na ipagpatuloy yung pagiging istrikto sa ating mga health protocols. (This is important as this means we are doing something right. We hope this will encourage our residents to continue following strict health protocols),” he said. 

As of Sept. 22, Taguig has 6,894 confirmed COVID-19 cases including 6,449 patients who have recovered and 55 deaths, with only 390 active cases. 

In Cayetano’s presentation, Taguig has 698 confirmed COVID-19 cases per 100,000, placing 12th among 17 local government units in the NCR.
