The Manila City government will not hesitate to close businesses which will not implement “No Mask, No Entry” protocols under the General Community Quarantine (GCQ) during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“I will close businesses violating this protocol. Maliwanag sa ordinance namin na kailangan magsuot ng face mask sa lahat ng public places. The same rule goes for all businesses,” Domagoso said.
“To those who will violate this simple rule, sorry but maghihigpit po kami doon. If you want to do business, then go do business but here in the City of Manila, we have regulations that you have to follow,” he said.
Under Ordinance No. 8627, Domagoso said all persons within the territorial jurisdiction of the City of Manila are required to wear face masks.

“The face mask must sufficiently cover one’s nose and mouth and must be worn at all times,” the Mayor said, quoting the ordinance.
These masks include “ear loop masks, indigenous, reusable, do-it-yourself masks, handkerchiefs or such other protective equipment that can effectively lessen the transmission of COVID-19.”
Residents who fail to comply with the ordinance may be fined P1,000 for the first offense, P2,000 for the second offense, and P5,000 or one month imprisonment or both for the third and subsequent offense.
