Fastfood chains like McDonald’s and Starbucks have become a sanctuary for students seeking a place to do homework, to study and review.

Students who wish to do all those things, however, are not welcome in this McDonald’s branch.
A netizen from Dumaguete took to Twitter to rant about the notice posted by a McDonald’s store, which bans customers from studying within its premises.
“We are pleased to request you not to study in our premises. This establishment is intended for everyone who likes to dine in and enjoy our services and the delicious foods that McDonald’s can offer,” the global fastfood giant said.
This didn’t sit well with netizen Ian Rosales Casocot.
“In a university town? During the run-up to the Finals week? For an establishment that’s open 24 hours? Where the only signs of life in the wee hours are students themselves? McDonald’s is like that whiny girl who goes to the each and complains about the sand,” Casocot said on Twitter.
Some people, however, came to the rescue of McDonald’s, saying business is business.
They noted that some people have been staying in fastfood stores for an ungodly amount of time while consuming about one drink or no food at all.
“If the restaurant is packed, I would go elsewhere. If it is in the wee hours of the morning and there are many tables to spare then ok magaral ako. But bottomline, make priority for those who are eating. Fastfood pa rin yan,” said @annemolina on Twitter.

I used to study in Mcdo for 4 hours but because the glare from other customers distracts me I had to subscribe in a 1 month package of some co-working hubs. :(
Not everyone is privileged to live in an environment that has a conducive place to study, I live in Tondo believe me twitter.com/sandwichspy/st …

I think so long as these students are paying (like ordering food often (hey don’t buy fries then stay for 24 hours wag ganun)), @McDo_PH should let them stay.
But tbh, McDo can do whatever they want, bad marketing strategy man o hindi. It’s a business. They aren’t there for CSR. twitter.com/sandwichspy/st …
