A post from Facebook netizen also known as Julius Montaniel Rimas trends in social media as he shares a video of the altercation between a guard and a car owner happened at Market, Market. The post has garnered 8.5k likes and 11k shares.

"Happened earlier at Market Market. Ayaw mag give way ng naka kotse sa pedestrian may muntik pa nga syang masagasaan na tumatawid. Sinaway lang sya ng guard kung bakit di man lang sya mag bigay sa tumatawid sa pedestrian lane. Lumabas na agad yung naka kotse at hinamak hamak yung guard. Dapat po ay mag give way tayo sa mga taong tumatawid at huwag mag mataas masyado, di porke naka kotse ka pwede ka na mag angas." Julius said on facebook.

 

According to the law, Presidential Decree 1958 (1984), an amendment of the Land Transportation and Traffic Code of 1964, obliges motorists to give way to pedestrians in pedestrian lanes or “zebra lanes”. Chapter IV (Traffic Rules), Article III (Right of Way and Signals), Section 42(c): “The driver of any vehicle upon a highway within a business or residential district shall yield the right of way to a pedestrian crossing such highway within a crosswalk, except at intersections where the movement of traffic is being regulated by a peace officer or by traffic signal. Every pedestrian crossing a highway within a business or residential district, at any point other than a crosswalk, shall yield the right of way to vehicles on the highway.”
