VIRAL: 'Tawag' finalist's heartbreaking 'Narda' rendition moves Ogie to tears

Days after she had "Tawag ng Tanghalan" judges on their feet with her rendition of the popular rock tune "Narda," newly announced grand finalist Janine Berdin continued to rank Monday among the top trends on YouTube, with her performances during the semifinals week raking in millions of views.

Notably, Berdin's version of Kamikazee's "Narda" that had judge Ogie Alcasid in tears already had nearly 2 million views, as of writing. In that performance, the 16-year-old Visayas bet gave a heartbreaking twist to the song about longing to be noticed or to be loved in return.

Alcasid, who was among the five juges, was seen tearing up and later wiping his eyes over Berdin's interpretation of "Narda." The veteran songwriter praised Berdin for her heartfelt performance, noting that despite her young age, she managed to perform with emotional depth.

On the official YouTube video upload of the performance, viewers had similar comments -- that Berdin's rendition gave new meaning to "Narda."

"'Yung version ng Kamikazee, mapaglaro," wrote one fan. "Etong kay Janine, masakit. Parang kantang pagsusumamo ng isang umiibig mag-isa. Unrequited love at hindi humihingi ng kapalit."

Another said: "No joke, for the longest time ngayon ko lang na-gets 'yung meaning talaga ng song na 'Narda'... After all, it's a story of unrequited love and hope despite not being loved back."
"Narda" was just one of Berdin's six performances during the fourth quarter semifinals of "Tawag ng Tanghalan." During that week, she also got a standing ovation from the judges for her spunky rendition of "Banal Na Aso," which similarly trended on YouTube.

Berdin's acclaimed versions eventually scored her a spot in the grand finals, along with Reggie Tortugo, also of Visayas.
This week, past unseated champions are taking their turn on stage for the "Ultimate Resbak" leg. Showdowns will determine a smaller crop of competitors, who will get a chance to clinch another two slots in the grand finals.
