President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Sunday officially launched the “Pamilya Pass 1+3 Promo,” a new fare initiative granting free rides to three companions of each paying passenger every Sunday on Metro Manila’s train systems.
The program, which began on June 1, applies to the Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3) and both Light Rail Transit Lines 1 and 2 (LRT-1 and LRT-2). It aims to encourage family bonding and ease the cost burden of weekend travel.

“In Filipino culture, Sundays are for family, for loved ones. For bonding. That’s why we created this program called the 1+3 program,” President Marcos said during a brief speech at the launch.
To mark the occasion, the President, joined by First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos and their three sons, boarded an MRT-3 train at GMA-Kamuning Station in Quezon City. The First Family's symbolic ride was a show of support for the program and a public invitation for Filipinos to take advantage of it.
The initiative is meant to provide commuting families a low-cost opportunity to spend quality time together, particularly in a city where long work hours and congested travel often interfere with family life.
“So that families and friends can have the chance to be together. Hopefully, we can give our fellow Filipinos the chance to feel what Sunday means truly,” the President added.
The “Pamilya Pass 1+3 Promo” is expected to benefit thousands of commuters weekly and is part of the government’s broader push for more inclusive and family-centered public services. Transport authorities have been directed to ensure smooth implementation of the program across the eligible train lines.
