Ambulance Using Siren Without a Patient Caught on EDSA Busway

An ambulance was apprehended by enforcers of the Department of Transportation - Special Action and Intelligence Committee for Transportation (DOTr-SAICT) for using its siren while traveling along the EDSA Busway, despite not carrying a patient.

The incident occurred past 3:00 PM on Thursday, February 20, along the northbound lane of Main Avenue, Quezon City. Upon inspection, authorities discovered that there was no patient inside the vehicle.

According to reports, the ambulance driver failed to present a trip ticket or dispatch form, claiming it was left at the barangay. However, since there was no proof of an actual emergency, the driver was issued a violation ticket.

This is the latest case of ambulances misusing the EDSA Busway without responding to an emergency. Similar incidents have previously been recorded, where emergency vehicles were caught using the exclusive lane without justification, violating traffic regulations.

The DOTr-SAICT continues to remind motorists, especially emergency vehicle operators, to use the busway and sirens only for legitimate emergencies to prevent abuse of privileges and maintain road discipline.
