Dangerous heat index in Metro Manila

Numerous regions across the nation are anticipated to experience dangerously high heat levels today, as forecasted by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

In Cagayan, Pagasa predicts a scorching heat index of 47 degrees Celsius. According to Pagasa's report on Sunday, Tuguegarao City is expected to record a peak air temperature of 39 degrees Celsius.

Meanwhile, weather specialist Grace Castañeda has indicated that the National Capital Region, including Metro Manila, is likely to endure temperatures soaring up to 45 degrees Celsius.

In various provinces, the heat index is projected to range from 40 degrees Celsius to 46 degrees Celsius. The heat index reflects how the temperature feels to the human body when the relative humidity is factored in with the air temperature.

Concurrently, the easterlies—winds originating from the east, traversing the Pacific Ocean, and carrying warm and humid weather—will bring partly cloudy to overcast skies. Isolated rain showers or thunderstorms are expected in certain areas across the country, as stated by the weather bureau.
