#WalangPasok: ‘Sembreak’ for public schools to start on Jan. 24 - DepEd

Students in public elementary and secondary schools are scheduled to go on a five-day mid-year break starting Jan. 24.

Based on DepEd Order no. 32 series of 2023 or the Implementing Guidelines on the School Calendar and Activities for the School Year 2023-2024, the mid-year break for the current school year is scheduled on Jan. 24 to 26 (Wednesday to Friday) and on Jan. 29 to 30 (Monday and Tuesday).

Classes will resume on Jan. 31 (Wednesday) which also signifies the start of the Academic Quarter 3 or the Second Semester.

Meanwhile, DepEd said that the annual five-day break shall be “spent” for the conduct of the Mid-Year Performance Review and Evaluation and the School-Based In-Service Training (INSET) for teachers.

The first two days, DepEd said will be evaluation of the school’s progress in implementing educational programs, projects, and activities as well as “reviewing the performance of teachers and the school staff to address concerns through cooperative effort.”

DepEd said the last three days will be “devoted” to the conduct of the school-based INSET activities for the teachers and preparation of instructional materials.
