Manila City reverts to 10pm-5am curfew hours

Curfew in the nation’s capital will be implemented from 10:00 pm to 5:00 am starting Tuesday, September 1.

This after Manila City Mayor Francisco ‘Isko Moreno’ Domagoso signed Executive Order No. 37 adjusting the previous curfew hours from 8:00 pm to 5:00 am to 10:00 pm to 5:00 am.

Domagoso bared the newly-signed executive order during a Facebook Live address on Monday, August 31.

“The curfew hours for all persons in the City of Manila shall be from ten o’clock in the evening (10:00 pm) to five o’clock in the morning (5:00 am) during the duration of the community quarantine imposed by the national government,” the executive order read.

The Mayor hopes to stimulate economic activity in the nation’s capital by adjusting the curfew hours.

With the shortened curfew hours, he said that businesses in Manila would have more time to operate while residents would have more time for their livelihood.

“Starting September 1, iaakyat po natin ang curfew mula 10:00 pm to 5:00 am. Logic behind it ay para mas madagdagan ang oras ng paghahanapbuhay, pagtra-trabaho at pagnenegosyo,” Domagoso said.

“Gusto po natin tulungan ang mga negosyante at ang tao ay patuloy na makapaghanapbuhay,” he said.
