Internet sensation Dante Gulapa turns to selling lumpia after pandemic cuts into gigs

Like many Filipinos, internet sensation Dante Gulapa, known for his "eagle dance", has ventured into the food business venture as a way to cope with the hardships caused by the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic.

After losing prospective gigs due to the health crisis, Gulapa shared on Facebook his new endeavor of selling lumpia or spring rolls and mango float desert.

In a series of Facebook posts, Gulapa said he would personally deliver orders to customers residing in Malabon City and nearby areas like Karuhatan in Valenzuela City and Bagong Barrio in Caloocan City.

Orders coming from beyond these areas can be served with courier deliveries, Gulapa disclosed.

Since his videos went viral in 2019, Gulapa who is also known as “Master Daigo”, has performed in various events and entertainment venues, appeared on television shows, and even managed to grow his own fanbase dubbed “Gulapanatics.”

Recently, Gulapa opened up about losing his job due to the COVID-19 pandemic: “HI PO MGA KA IDOL. KUMUSTA NA PO KAYO? MAGTATANONG LANG PO AKO. BAKA MAY ALAM [KAYONG PUWEDE] KO [APPLY-AN] TRABAHO MGA IDOL [KASI] HIRAP NG BUHAY [NGAYON] PARA MAY PANG SUPORTA NAMAN PO AKO SA MGA ANAK KO.”

Gulapa also admitted to having not much other work experience, and asked for advice on what jobs he can take on to provide for his family.
