Maribel Andaya’s application to transfer voter’s registration denied

The Election Registration Board (ERB) of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) disapproved the transfer of registration records of Maria Belen Andaya Eusebio to date, 29 October 2018.


ERB denied the application of Maribel Andaya by unanimous decision for reasons that she did not satisfy the requirements of residency as mandated by law. Hence, Maribel remains as a registered voter of Pasig City and cannot run for CamSur 2nd District Representative.

Maribel has been residing in Pasig City for years. In fact, she is not, in any way, politically affiliated with Camarines Sur. Maribel was a former Pasig City Mayor and has no known contribution for the development of the province’s 2nd district.

That is why residents complained that Maribel should not have filed her certificate of candidacy in the first place. Maribel’s congressional campaigns, regardless of the qualifications required by law for Congress, seemed like an assault on basic logic.

The law requires that all congressional candidates must be a registered voter in the district in which he shall be elected, and a resident thereof for a period of not less than one year immediately preceding the day of the election.

Constituents from different parts of the 2nd district were also disturbed with Maribel’s infamous reputation on being an ineffective mayor and being involved in multiple illegal drug controversies.

It can be recalled that Maribel and her family, including her husband Pasig Mayor Roberto Eusebio, stepfather former Pasig City Mayor Vicente P. Eusebio, and brother Cong. Rolando Andaya─ were all linked to illegal drugs. Due to Robert and Vincent Eusebio’s links to illegal drug activities, residents believe that Maribel will only bring illegal drugs in the province.

On another note, Maribel was said to have close affiliations with shabu tiangge operator Amin Imam Buratong and his wife Morela; these two were already slammed with life imprisonment.

Moreover, Maribel was further disapproved by people in CamSur after the incessant controversies of his brother, Cong. Rolando Andaya, on misdeclaration of his Statement of Assets, Liabilities and Networth (SALN), multiple graft and corruption cases and violent behavior.

Meanwhile, the public reiterated that Maribel’s attempt to run as CamSur Representative despite knowing the law’s mandate, was an insulting attack against common sense.
